Therapeutic Massage
Therapeutic Massage opens a variety of rewarding, interesting career
prospects for helping others - from day spas to resorts, cruise
ships to health clubs, wellness centers to salons, sports teams
to hospices, and many others. Massage therapists work for others
or build their own practices, setting their own schedules.
We have been the Standard Of Excellence since 1992. Setting that Standard includes requiring a full 756 hours of supervised instruction - far exceeding the 500-hour minimum set by the State of Louisiana. Why so many hours? It's simple. We give you what you'll need to successfully test for National Certification (another State of Louisiana requirement to practice massage therapy), and to have all the vital skills necessary for a competent Massage Therapist.
Students develop hands-on skills in 407 hours of lab time, practicing with each other what they've learned in class. Another 72 hours of hands-on clinic time sharpens assessment and qualification skills with "clients" from the general public, gaining practical, real-world experience in an instructor-supervised, safe environment. All of our Therapeutic Massage instructors are licensed practitioners.
Massage tables are provided for on-premises student use. All clinics
are conducted here. Students learn a variety of massage modalities:
Swedish, sports, connective tissue, neuromuscular, Shiatsu, Reflexology,
hydrotherapy, pre-natal & post-natal, infant, geriatric, corporate
(or chair), and massage for the physically challenged as well as
the terminally ill. A good variety - and nothing you won't need.
Learn a number of ways to help others by relieving pain, increasing
mobility and flexibility, and improving a sense of well-being through
massage therapy.
Medical Training College offers exclusive Spa Therapies, including body wraps, salt glow, paraffin & mud pack treatments, hot & cold stone massage – plus wet table use, extended Hydrotherapy instruction, and all in a unique Spa-Environment lab!
To complete the program, twelve hours of Business Management covers
topics that deal with the day-to-day issues of Therapeutic Massage:
Developing a clientele. Creating a repeat clientele. Creating a
resume and developing interview skills. Do I need insurance? How
much? What kind? Where do I get it? Do I need a business license?
Should I incorporate a private practice? How do I protect private
assets from business assets? What's an LLC? Where can I find financing
to help establish a new business? Where I can get help with bookkeeping
or income taxes? We deal with those questions, and more.
We succeed because our graduates do.
